There may be a sharp increase in the prices of vegetables due to the Farmers Protest. To prevent farmers from entering Delhi, all the main roads including UP Gate have been barricaded, due to which there has been difficulty in commuting to Delhi. This can have a direct impact on the supply of vegetables and its prices. Last time also the prices of vegetables had increased due to the farmers’ movement.

Vegetable seller Vinod Kumar told Amar Ujala that he buys vegetables from Ghazipur vegetable market and sells them in different areas of East Delhi. Till now, autos were available for between two hundred to three hundred rupees to carry vegetables from Ghazipur to the market, but seeing today’s situation, they have to pay five hundred rupees. Firstly, autos are not ready to come because they have to wait a long time to come to the market and return, hence they are demanding higher fares.

Vegetables from Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida also come for sale in Ghazipur vegetable market. But due to this hassle of commuting, their fare will also increase. This can have a direct impact on the prices of vegetables. Similarly, the arrival of vegetables from Haryana through Indus border may be affected. From here, green vegetables like cabbage, chilli, spinach reach Delhi. Its direct effect can be seen in the form of prices.

Vegetables from areas around Delhi-NCR also reach Delhi’s Azadpur vegetable market, Keshopur vegetable market and Ghazipur vegetable market through Yamuna Expressway and Kalindi Kunj border. It is certain that the ban on farmers will have an impact on them. Common consumers may have to pay its real price.
